A brief overview of the control cycle or diminishing flow (inner star pattern) is as follows:

Water controls fire     - puts out the flame

Fire controls metal     - melts it

Metal controls wood   - as in an axe chopping wood

Wood controls earth   - diminishes or depletes the soil of nutrients

Earth controls water   - as in earth muddying the water

The proper flow of these energies facilitates balance on all levels of our being: mind, body and spirit.

Applications addressing the flow of energies in these five elements not only correspond with our own personal energy, but also have broader applications within our personal living environment.
